Coleraine has strengthened their defensive line by signing 22-year-old defender Kyle McClelland on a season-long loan. McClelland joins the Showgrounds after a successful loan spell at Queen of the South in Scottish League One, where he was named player of the year.

Starting his career at Glasgow Rangers, McClelland has also had loan stints at Cove Rangers and has represented Northern Ireland up to the Under-21 level.

“This is a big step in my career,” McClelland said following the announcement of his signing. “I believe this move will help me grow as a person and provide me with valuable experience. After a great conversation with the gaffer about the club’s goals and expectations, I felt this was the right move for me. I’m just buzzing to get started.”

Coleraine head coach Dean Shiels, a former player for Rangers and Hibs, expressed his satisfaction with McClelland’s acquisition.

“We are very pleased to welcome Kyle to the club,” Shiels stated. “Despite his age, he demonstrates maturity both on and off the ball. Having come through the Rangers academy, his coaches speak highly of him, and Hibernian was thrilled to sign him on a long-term deal. I want to thank David Gray, the head coach at Hibs, for facilitating this loan. I believe Kyle will excel here with his quality.”
