Leicester Latest: Hall’s Replacement Secured, Midfielder in Real Madrid and Celtic Talks, and Interest in Coventry Star.

Steve Cooper as Replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Leicester City fans are mourning the departure of their star player, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whose exit has now been confirmed. A lifelong fan of the club, Dewsbury-Hall was instrumental in their Championship title win last season. However, due to Leicester’s financial struggles and his desire to advance his career, he has moved to Chelsea for £30 million to reunite with former manager Enzo Maresca. With 26 goals and assists last season, his absence will be deeply felt. New manager Steve Cooper now faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement.

Ndidi to Celtic or Real Madrid?

Celtic have been given the opportunity to sign their long-term target, Wilfred Ndidi, according to a report. Brendan Rodgers, who previously worked with Ndidi at Leicester City, may reunite with the 27-year-old midfielder this summer.

Ndidi, now a free agent after his contract with Leicester expired, has been linked with top European clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid in the past. In 2021, Leicester valued him at £52 million. Despite helping Leicester win the Championship title and securing their return to the Premier League, his contract was not renewed under new manager Steve Cooper.

The Mirror reports that joining Celtic, the Scottish Premiership champions, is a possible move for Ndidi. Rodgers has previously praised Ndidi for his athletic ability, hard work, and game-reading skills, describing him as a key defensive player who can press and play simply.

Leicester’s Interest in Callum O’Hare

With Leicester City currently appealing a Premier League charge from March regarding a historical breach of spending rules, the club was determined to meet the latest PSR deadline on Sunday. Consequently, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s sale was almost certain. His departure is a significant loss for Leicester fans, as he was a key player and a lifelong supporter of the club.

Given Leicester’s financial challenges, it remains uncertain how much of the £30 million from Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer will be reinvested into the squad. To address this, Leicester might consider signing attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare, who is available for free after leaving Coventry City. O’Hare, known for his similar playing style to Dewsbury-Hall, has drawn interest from other clubs but could be attracted by the promise of a key role at Leicester.

O’Hare has considerable experience with 137 Championship games and is ready for a Premier League step up. After recovering from an ACL injury in late 2022, he made a strong return in October 2023, scoring ten goals and assisting four in 36 games. His former manager at Coventry, Mark Robins, praised O’Hare’s impact and character, highlighting his importance to the team and his strong connection with fans.

If Leicester can secure O’Hare, they can use the funds from Dewsbury-Hall’s sale to strengthen other areas of the squad, ensuring they have a capable replacement without spending on a transfer fee.
